Thrasher Cove
Thrasher Cove is a popular but very small campsite. Used as the first stop (to prepare for Owen Point) or the last stop (to prepare for the final 6 km) it can be an overcrowded narrow strip of beach; especially when tides are high.
There are a couple of small sites in the forest at the west end if you want some space to yourself, otherwise you might find yourself getting very cozy with other hikers. More than any other camp on the trail, be sure to set your tent up as high as possible on the beach when tides are over
3.3m
so you do not get a rude, and wet, awakening in the middle of the night.
The lights of Port Renfrew are visible across the bay and plenty of small boat traffic can be seen, including the Parks Canada Visitor Safety team who frequently land here to evacuate injured hikers.
